AWS can be used as a terminal emulator to emulate 3270, 5250 and VT220 terminals.

Several Simultaneous Terminal Connections

With AWS, you may have up to eight simultaneous terminal connections. Each of these can be connected to different mainframes, if necessary. The way mainframe images are presented and many other things, are customizable per connection.

Image Recognition

You can make AWS recognize which image that is being displayed on the mainframe terminal. When you do this, AWS becomes much more intelligent.

To make this happen, you must describe the "look" of the mainframe images. However, you don't have to describe each and every possible mainframe image.

Support for Session Managers

If you use a session manager, such as TPX or Netmaster, Aros Work Station uses different windows for each system you're connected to.

This functionality requires that AWS can recognize the different system's images.

Automatic Mainframe Log On

If you have described your system's mainframe images, you can automate mainframe log on. The end user will then be able to choose mainframe system from the menu. During the first log on, AWS will ask for a user identity and a password. If you log on again, AWS will reuse the same data without asking.

Macro Recording

With AWS, it's easy to record a macro. You can execute your macro right away, or you can edit in the AWS Macro Editor. The language, called AML, is an advanced language based on REXX and Basic, and contains close to three hundred functions.

Popup Menus for the Terminal Operator

With AWS you can create popup menu items. Different mainframe fields can have different popup menu items. You can even create items that the end user can customize himself.

Extensive customization

AWS offers a number of configuration possibilities through AWS Preferences. You can customize almost anything you can think of.
